CLASSIC SHAKER
The Woodhouse Kitchen - Woodhouse, Loughborough
There are kitchens that are well designed, and then there are kitchens that make you stop the moment you walk in. This bespoke kitchen installation in Woodhouse, Loughborough, falls firmly into the second category.
The brief called for something that could handle a busy family home without compromise on finish or function. What Sherwin Hall delivered is a full-width open plan kitchen featuring floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in a Charterhouse plain shaker design, finished in a deep stained ash with walnut MFC carcases and dovetailed walnut drawer boxes throughout.
The grain of the ash does a lot of work in this kitchen - up close it has real depth and character, and from across the room the dark tone grounds the entire space against the herringbone oak floor and the light flooding in through twin roof lanterns above.

Hidden Utility Room
Perhaps the most considered detail in the entire project is one you would never notice unless you were looking for it. Tucked behind a full-height door that sits seamlessly within the cabinetry run is a completely separate utility room. Painted out in soft white with matching shaker doors, quartz worktops, a Caple ceramic sink and stacked appliance housing, it provides everything the main kitchen needs to stay uncluttered. The contrast between the two spaces when the door opens is quietly dramatic.

Bar Area
Opposite the cooking run, a full-height bar unit commands its own wall. Glass-fronted upper and lower cabinets flank an open-shelved display section with a mirrored back, designed for entertaining and finished with the same dark brushed brass Hendel and Hendel hardware that runs throughout the kitchen. The Miele built-in coffee machine and warming drawer sit nearby, alongside two handleless Miele single ovens.
